Message from Holly, Oregon Executive Director of Stand For Children
On April 1st, legislative leaders will release their initial budget proposal for 2009-11 - and it will be no April Fool's joke. With a projected $3 billion+ revenue shortfall, the legislature will be forced to make massive cuts to schools and other essential services.
Will you stand with us to protect kids and schools?
To help persuade legislators and voters to make the long-overdue changes to our tax system that will enable the state to invest in our kids, we first need to make our case about just how critically important that investment is.
Tell us how budget cuts will hurt kids in your community: www.stand.org/or/impact.
What programs and services have already been cut from school children in your community? If new revenue isn't available for the 2009-10 school year, what additional cuts will your district have to make?
After you share your story, watch your email - we'll let you know over the next few weeks where and when you can have the most impact.
Standing with you for children,
Holly Pruett
Oregon Executive Director
