Dear Friends of Citizens for Peace & Justice,
Thanks to all who attended last Saturday's rally in Medford.  If that rally got your juices flowing and you want to rally some more or you couldn't come last Saturday, we have two opportunites for you this week.  And we have more signs for you to choose from.  So, join us at the rallies listed below and either bring your own sign or use one of ours.
- 4:30 pm Thursday, March 26, Stand for Peace, in front of the Josephine County Courthouse, 500 NW Sixth St., Grants Pass.  There is a Stand for Peace at the same location on the second and fourth Thursday of each month and on the 4th Thursday there is a meeting after the stand at 5:30 pm in the basement of the annex to the Newman United Methodist Church, kitty-corner from the courthouse.  (More from Jerry Reed below about the Stands for Peace and why we do them.)
- 12 noon Saturday, March 28th, Rally for Peace, near the Rogue Valley Mall on the sidewalk along Crater Lake Highway just north of the Shell gas station and just south of the entrance to Target in Medford very close to the north Medford I-5 interchange.

Fellow Peace & Justice advocates:

It is the 4th Thursday of March this week on the 26th, and once again we have our twice-a-month opportunity to stand up for peace and justice, to raise awareness in Grants Pass / Jo County about injustices that remain and changes that are needed, worldwide and here at home. Please join with your fellow advocates for Peace and Justice at our usual place for our 4:30 - 5:30 PM Peace Stand that evening. If you know others who share our concerns, please bring them with you as well. We gather to remind our community of issues like the following:

It is the incredibly large U.S. military budget, not entitlement spending, that is the major unnecessary, ruinous burden on American taxpayers. War Resisters League (warresisters.org) is another organization that has a long history of opposing the wars that our leaders have dragged us into, despite the clear intention of the founders of our republic.

The data War Resisters provides on this page: (  http://www.warresisters.org/pages/piechart.htm  ) reveals how heavy our military burden is and why America "can not afford" universal single payer health care for all for example. Also, scroll further down on that page and take a look at the bar chart showing how U. S. military spending compares to the total of the next fifteen highest military spending countries.

I hope you can join us out there. And, I think the weather is going to be in our favor this time.

Following the Peace Stand, there will be a meeting at the Newman United Methodist Church of all participants who would like to discuss current and future issues. Please also stay for that if you can.

I'll be there, I hope you can make it.

For Peace, Justice and Reason,
Jerry Reed
