Announcements for June 2009

Despite the election of President Barack Obama, the US occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan continue and drone missile attacks on villages in Pakistan continue to kill innocent civilians. That's why I think groups like CPJ, Peace House and the Collateral Repair Project are just as relevant as they were two or three years ago.

Please join us for one or more of the events below during the month of June:

1. CPJ Film Nite at 7 pm Thursday, June 4th, in Lidgate Hall, Medford Congregational United Church of Christ, 1801 E. Jackson St., will feature a documentary film, KPFA - A History of Pacifica Radio. Join us for the film and discussion afterward.

2. Urge everyone to attend the Collateral Repair Project's film interviews with Iraqi refugees living in poverty in Jordan. The film will be shown at Peace House from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, Monday, June 8th. Peace House is located at 543 S. Mountain St., Ashland.

3. CPJ's third Thursday general meeting will be held at 6:30 pm Thursday, June 18th, in Lidgate Hall, MCUCC. Help CPJ plan future events and film presentations.

4. CPJ Rally for Peace, held every 4th Saturday from 12 noon to 1 pm, will be on Saturday, June 27th. Stay tuned. We may move our rally from the Rogue Valley Mall to Vogel Plaza in downtown Medford at the corner of Main and Central (if there is no other event scheduled there that day).
