Over 30 people attended an organizing meeting for our new Latino Committee at the Medford Unete Center for Farm Worker and Immigrant Advocacy during a meeting in 2008. Representation included farm workers, health and service industy representatives, educators and social workers. Discussion groups were formed to identify issues of concern including Health Care, Immigration, Education, Social Services, Human Rights and Employment.
The immediate goal was to reach consensus on those issues which could be included in the new Platform for the Jackson County Democrats. They selected a leadership committee composed of Diana Banda, Chela Sanchez, Freda Casillas, Milo Salgado, and Victor Zamarripa. Welcome to the all inclusive family of the Democratic Party!
